SlingProjector is a simple application that'll transmit, or "project," video and images from your PC to your SlingCatcher ... so your SlingCatcher can show them on to your TV.
To start the SlingProjector application:
- Choose Start > All Programs > Sling Media > Launch SlingProjector
If the SlingProjector icon is in the Windows Tray:
- Click it, and choose Open SlingProjector.
Once launched, you see the SlingProjector application. Click the center button to connect to your SlingCatcher.
If more than one SlingCatcher is available on your network, then you need to choose a SlingCatcher from the directory list.
Two ways to transmit images from your PC:
-
You can transmit your entire PC screen using Project entire screen mode.
-
You can transmit just a window on your PC screen, a portion of a window, or a specific feature within window (such as a video player), by using Project window mode.
- Moving your pointer near the edge of a window selects the entire window.
-
Moving your pointer within a window highlights features within the window.
The portion of the window that SlingProjector is going to transmit is highlighted in color (see image below). If the selection isn't what you want, just move your pointer until the area you want is selected, then click. If you're not able to select a specific object or area, click and drag a rectangle around the area of interest. SlingProjector will transmit whatever's within that selection rectangle.
Once you click an object that SlingProjector has selected -- or when you release the mouse button if you're dragging a selection rectangle -- the color of the highlight rectangle changes, indicating that SlingProject is transmitting that selection. You can re-select another object (or area) at any time.
Note: For the best viewing experience when streaming Internet videos from a web browser, we recommend that you use Windows Internet Explorer 7.

To quickly stop images from being transmitted from your PC:
To disconnect from your SlingCatcher:
- Click the center button again, or exit the application.
PC audio versus audio on your TV: remember that the audio settings on your PC have no effect on how your TV plays audio from SlingProjector. Make sure that your TV's audio volume is turned up, and that the proper audio inputs are connected to your SlingCatcher.
The SlingProjector background service, which shows up as an icon in the Windows Tray, ensures compatibility with the audio and video players available on your PC. It does this by making the necessary audio and video resources available to SlingProjector. The SlingProjector background service runs whenever SlingProjector is running, and exits automatically once you exit SlingProjector. |
