Video Tuning Wizard: When should it be used?

The Video Tuning Wizard helps you choose the video settings that give you the best picture quality when you're using SlingPlayer to watch your TV anywhere.

Note: the Video Tuning Wizard only changes settings within the SlingPlayer software itself. It doesn't change any video settings on your computer, it only detects what video configuration your computer has so it can determine how to give you the best picture quality.

Changes that the Video Tuning Wizard makes are computer-specific. If you use SlingPlayer on more than one computer, then running the Video Tuning Wizard on one PC doesn't take care of the other computer.

However, if you use the same computer to watch more than one Slingbox, you only need to run the Video Tuning Wizard once for that PC.

The Video Tuning Wizard automatically prompts you to run it:

  • The first time that you launch SlingPlayer after installing it (or updating it);
  • Any time that SlingPlayer detects a change in PC, monitor, video card, and so on;
  • If you connect an additional monitor;
  • Any time that SlingPlayer detects a change in video settings
  • If you upgrade Windows significantly;
  • If you make significant changes (changes involving video output) to your Windows Media Player preferences.

You're welcome to cancel the Video Tuning Wizard if you don't want to launch it right at that moment. You can re-launch it at any time by choosing Video Tuning Wizard from the Settings menu. (You have to disconnect from your Slingbox first.)
