Sling Media fully encourages use of the free Slingbox finder service that comes as part of your Slingbox purchase. With almost no setup and maintenance by you, we make it possible to always connect to your Slingbox when you’re away from your home network.
More advanced users however, might want to use a dynamic DNS service. If you don’t even know what this is (or don't give a hoot), please don’t attempt to use it! If you're familiar with Dynamic DNS then understand that everything should work fine with the Slingbox provided the appropriate ports are forwarded correctly. When the Dynamic DNS service that you are using attempts to connect to your router, the Router will send back the proper request. Per the router manufacturer’s documentation you need to disable "Block WAN Request", in the Filters and make sure it’s set to enable.
If everything is set up properly, you can enter the name you chose for your domain with the Dynamic DNS service provider in the SlingPlayer connection properties tab rather than using the Slingbox Finder ID.
