Using the SlingPlayer with a VPN Connection on your Windows computer
When you connect to a VPN (a virtual private network), all of your Internet traffic, including the video stream for your Slingbox, is routed through the server for that VPN. This may sometimes cause interruptions and inconsistent performance in SlingPlayer. If you experience problems while streaming using a particular VPN connection, you can sometimes resolve them by changing your VPN settings. Check with your network administrator for the VPN to see if changing your settings is allowed.
To avoid the interruption and inconsistent performance, bypass the VPN connection by NOT using the default gateway on remote network.
Below are the steps to take to configure your VPN connection so it does not use default gateway on remote network:
Select Control Panel from your computer’s Start menu.
Double-click on Network Connections.
Right-click on your VPN under Virtual Private Network and then select Properties.
Click the Networking tab.
Select Internet Protocol (TCP/IP), and then click Properties.
Click Advanced to display the Advanced TCP/IP Settings screen.
Clear the checkbox “Use default gateway on remote network.”
