What's a Slingbox ID, Finder ID or Slingbox Finder ID?

Each Slingbox has its own unique ID. This is called your Slingbox ID, Slingbox Finder ID or Finder ID. It’s used by SlingPlayer to ensure that you’re connecting to your Slingbox. No matter where you are on the Internet, SlingPlayer automatically “finds” your Slingbox regardless of its location.

(Note that this Slingbox Finder ID has nothing to do with the Finder that is part of the Macintosh interface.)

If you didn’t write down your Slingbox ID during setup, you can access it again, as long as you’re on your home network. Here’s how:

  1. Launch SlingPlayer and go to the Slingbox Directory. On Windows, to get to the Slingbox Directory go to the Slingbox menu. On a Mac, to get to the Slingbox Directory go to the Window menu.

  2. Select your Slingbox and then click Edit.

  3. Click the Connection tab and the Slingbox ID appears.
