Q: Where can I download the SlingPlayer Mobile for Symbian S60?
A: You can find the software on Sling Media’s software download page.

Q: What countries are supported with this software release?
A: There's two versions: United Kingdom and United States/Canada.

Q: I already have the SlingPlayer Mobile for Symbian S60 installed on my phone.  Should I install it?
A: There's some minor changes, but you don't need to install it.

Q: Will SlingPlayer Mobile for Symbian S60 work on my particular Symbian phone or device?
A: Sling Media has tested the SlingPlayer Mobile for Symbian S60 with the following phones:

US/CA - Nokia N95, Nokia N75, Nokia E65
UK - Nokia N95, Nokia E65, Nokia N73, Nokia 6120

Important
While the SlingPlayer Mobile for Symbian S60 can install and run on a range of Series 60 phones, your viewing experience may not always be optimal and will vary depending on your device's capabilities and your phone's network data plan and supported speeds.  SlingPlayer Mobile for Symbian S60 also works with WiFi connection where supported on the device, so you can consider using WiFi in locations where your data plan may not be very fast.


The SlingPlayer Mobile for Symbian has a 30-day free trial period, so please, try it on your phone with your data plan before you buy it.


Q: Does the SlingPlayer Mobile for Symbian S60 run on Symbian UIQ devices?
A: This release only supports recently released Series 60 phones.  Please see the above answer for additional details.

Q: Can I use the SlingPlayer Mobile for Symbian S60 with my mobile phone's data plan?
A: While SlingPlayer Mobile for Symbian S60 supports many types of high-speed data connections, a lot depends on your provider and their data plan. Some cellular phones and carriers may require you to change specific settings to allow video streaming from your Slingbox to your mobile phone.  If you can view your Slingbox on a computer outside of your home network, but you can't view on your mobile phone, check with your carrier to ensure that your phone and data plan are configured to allow video streaming from your Slingbox.

If you can connect to your Slingbox but you keep seeing the message "Incorrect Slingbox password. Please try again." and you're sure you've entered the right password, your mobile operator may be disabling streaming for the SlingPlayer Mobile.  For more information, please refer here.


Q: Can I run the SlingPlayer Mobile for Symbian S60 in the background?
A: If you try to run the SlingPlayer software as background application it will stop streaming.  To hear audio from the SlingPlayer software, it must be the foreground application.

Q: Will my phone receive incoming phone call alerts while the SlingPlayer for Mobile S60 is connected to my Slingbox?
A: It depends on the type and quality of your phone's data connection.  If the signal strength is strong and you're connected to a 3G network (such as EV-DO or HSDPA), you'll receive incoming call alerts.  If your signal strength is poor or your connected to an older generation data network (such as GPRS), you'll not receive incoming alerts. This does not apply to WiFi connections.
