Selecting Digital (Clear QAM) results in fewer channels in SlingPlayer Guide

If you've set up your Slingbox PRO-HD to use:

  • ANT-IN input
  • Cable service (without a cable box)
  • Digital (Clear QAM) ...

... you'll likely see fewer channels in the SlingPlayer Guide than you're accustomed to seeing.

This is because many digital channels are encrypted (and not just "premium cable" channels, some "basic cable" channels are encrypted as well). The Slingbox PRO-HD can't work with those channels, so they don't appear in the SlingPlayer Guide.

The workaround is to use the Analog Cable option, instead of Digital (Clear QAM). Then rescan the channels.

To rescan channels using Analog versus Digital:

  1. From SlingPlayer 2.0 for Windows, choose Setup Assistant from the Settings menu.
  2. If you have more than one Slingbox on your network, select your Slingbox PRO-HD.
  3. Click Edit Settings on the left-side panel.
  4. For Connection, click ANT-IN.
  5. Click Next.
  6. Select Cable service (without a cable box).
  7. Choose Analog Cable for the connection.
  8. Click Next.
  9. Enter your zip code, and select your TV programming provider.
  10. Click Next.

Your Slingbox PRO-HD rescans for available channels. It'll take a few minutes.
