If you get a black screen after changing resolution or moving SlingCatcher from one TV to another, press and hold the OK and UP buttons on the remote control for 5 seconds. This resets your SlingCatcher’s resolution settings to factory defaults:
- The aspect ratio goes back to 4:3.
- Your SlingCatcher’s resolution settings go back to factory defaults (480i for the US and Canada, 576i for UK).
Note: Some televisions have difficulty reverting to 480i or 576i resolution. If your TV doesn’t show you a picture after 30 seconds, restart your SlingCatcher. All you need to do is tap the Reset button on the back. DO NOT HOLD DOWN THE RESET BUTTON or you will force SlingCatcher to lose all of its settings and go back to factory default. If this is successful, select Output Resolution from the Settings menu and change the resolution to one that both your TV and the SlingCatcher supports. Why does this happen? If the connections you’re using don’t match SlingCatcher’s resolution settings, you see a black TV screen. SlingCatcher has a number of ways to connect to your TV. Each of these connections is customized to work with a particular range of resolutions. For example, SlingCatcher puts out a high resolution signal through its HDMI and component connections.
These connections are designed to handle the large volume of information in a high resolution signal. SlingCatcher doesn’t send a high resolution signal though a standard definition connection (S-video or composite video). Standard definition connections weren’t designed for that. Here are the details: | SlingCatcher Resolution | Composite | S-Video | Component | HDMI |

Note: 480i/480p/720p/1080i are US-specific output settings. 576i/576p/720p 50Hz and 1080i 50Hz are settings for UK/Europe and other international locations. SlingCatchers purchased in the US and Canada will default to 480i (NTSC) output. SlingCatchers purchased in the UK will default to 576i (PAL) output.
