To access the live and recorded video being transmitted from your Slingbox to your SlingCatcher, you may need to update the Slingbox Software (also known as firmware) on your Slingbox.
Note: This only needs to be done if your SlingCatcher displays an on-screen message that the Slingbox Software on your Slingbox needs to be updated.
Unfortunately, you can't use the SlingCatcher directly to update Slingbox Software. But this can easily be done from the SlingPlayer desktop software (either Windows or Mac OS versions). Here's how:
- Visit downloads.slingmedia.com to download the latest release of SlingPlayer desktop software.
- Install this latest release of SlingPlayer on your computer.
- Once the latest SlingPlayer is installed, use it to connect to your Slingbox.
When you do that, SlingPlayer checks the Slingbox Software on your Slingbox.
- If SlingPlayer alerts you that the Slingbox Software on your Slingbox needs updating, follow the onscreen instructions.
When that's done, the Slingbox Software inside your Slingbox is up-to-date. You can now use your SlingCatcher to connect to your Slingbox.
Note: if you launch SlingPlayer, and it doesn't tell you that the Slingbox Software inside your Slingbox needs to be updated, then you're already good to go.
