When you are connected to your Slingbox and watching content from your cable or satellite set-top box, most of the remote control keys from your set-top box remote have been mapped to the corresponding keys on the SlingCatcher remote.
In the case where the SlingCatcher remote does not have a corresponding button, you can hit the OPT button on the remote to access those commands. And you will see that some of them will have little colored dots above them.
These colored dots correspond to the colored buttons on your SlingCatcher remote control. They can be used to represent a remote command for your video device that is missing from SlingCatcher’s remote control.
To use them:Press the OPT button while viewing video from your Slingbox. The bottom bar you will see on the TV represents remote commands that are missing from your SlingCatcher remote control.
The ones with colored dots on top of them have been assigned to the colored buttons on your remote control. When the bottom bar is closed, if you press the colored buttons, the corresponding remote command will be issued to your video device. To change the colored button assignment:- Press the OPT key to open the bottom bar.
- Use the left/right keys to select the desired remote command that you want to assign to a colored button on the SlingCatcher remote control
- Press and hold the colored button on the SlingCatcher remote control that you want to assign the remote command to.
- Now press OPT until the bottom bar closes.
Now press the colored button you just set in step 3, and you should see the desired remote command be sent to your video source. The name of the remote command should appear briefly on the TV screen.
