What is Web-based SlingPlayer? What features does it have?
Web-based SlingPlayer is a web-based Slingbox viewer. It's an alternative to standalone SlingPlayer software application, offering the same basic viewing functions. You can:
- Connect to your Slingbox and watch your TV anywhere!
- Search for currently-airing live programs.
- Tune directly to a channel without using the remote.
- Use the Live Video buffer's DVR-like control to pause, rewind, or fast-forward up to 30 minutes of video.
- See related content that is available on-demand throughout the rest of the Sling.com website.
All you need to use Web-based SlingPlayer is a small web add-on that your web browser installs for you the first time you use Web-based SlingPlayer.
Sounds great! So why should I still use the Windows or Mac OS versions of SlingPlayer?
Web-based SlingPlayer is a great feature that makes it even easier to watch your TV anywhere. There's no need to download and install the SlingPlayer software to a computer that you're only going to use briefly (such as a borrowed computer, or one you're using in a public place).
However, a standalone version of SlingPlayer is needed for installing a Slingbox, changing configuration, changing settings.
Web-based SlingPlayer, along with a standalone SlingPlayer software, make a great team for watching your TV anywhere. |
