What do I need to use Web-based SlingPlayer?

To use Web-based SlingPlayer, you need:

  1. A previously-configured Slingbox with a broadband Internet connection.
  2. A Windows PC with a broadband connection and either Microsoft Internet Explorer, or Mozilla Firefox.
If you'd like to try the beta version of the Mac OS Web-based SlingPlayer, then you'll need a Macintosh with a broadband connection and either Firefox or Safari.
  3. A Sling.com user account (it's free!)
  4. The SlingPlayer web plug-in.

The SlingPlayer web plug-in is available automatically. If your web browser needs the plug-in, that happens automatically the first time you use Web-based SlingPlayer. Just click Live TV to start Web-based SlingPlayer, and the installation instructions appear on the screen. But it's easy, and there's not much to do!

Web-based SlingPlayer uses your Sling Account to access your Slingbox information, saving you the trouble of having to enter your Slingbox access information. If you want to access an Internet Slingbox (one that's not on your current local network) and the info for that Slingbox isn't stored within your Sling Account, then you'll need to enter the Slingbox ID and password for this Slingbox manually.
