SlingPlayer asks about a "Sling Account" and/or your Slingbox isn't in the Device Directory
Don't see your Slingbox in the Device Directory? It's probably because it's not in your Sling Account. Here's what a "Sling Account" is ... and what it has to do with your iPhone or iPod touch.
Sling Accounts are a free feature that keep track of your Slingbox ID number(s), Slingbox passwords, and your Favorites lists. By letting your Sling Account save all this info for you, it's even easier to connect to your Slingbox, no matter what computer or handheld you're using.
Sling Accounts are a part of the U.S./Canadian version of SlingPlayer for Windows. You may not be familiar with them if you haven't used that application.
Still, you can manually create a Sling Account for your Slingbox(es). Once you've done this, you can log into your new Sling Account from SlingPlayer Mobile. As soon as you do, your Slingboxes will appear in the Device Directory on your iPhone or iPod touch.
To create a Sling Account:
On your computer, go to sling.com/mobile
Create an account by following the onscreen instructions.
Once you've created an account, add your Slingbox so that you can view it on your iPhone or iPod touch.
To add your Slingbox to your Sling Account (Do this while you're at home so you can find your Slingbox ID):
First, use SlingPlayer on your computer to find your Slingbox ID: If you have a Mac, go to the Window menu in SlingPlayer and select Slingbox Directory. If you're on Windows, go to the Connect menu in SlingPlayer and select Slingbox Directory.
On either platform, select your Slingbox, then click Edit.
The window that opens contains your Slingbox ID.
On your computer, go to http://slingaccounts.slingmedia.com
Follow the instructions to log into your new Sling Account. When prompted, use the Slingbox ID that you just discovered to complete your account data.
What's in your Device Directory? The Device Directory shows the Slingboxes and DISH receivers that you can connect to. Once you're logged in to SlingPlayer Mobile, you can access your Slingbox or DISH receiver from it.
