Televisions aren't what they used to be. They've evolved. They now support technical standards such as high-definition video, wide screens, digital broadcasting tuners, and a variety of other advanced technologies. To keep up with these changes, the Slingbox and SlingPlayer software have evolved over the years, as well.
New North American TV standards have expanded the demands placed on our software and hardware. We can update the Slingbox Software (also known as "firmware") in our older models and update SlingPlayer, but as time goes on, older hardware limits what a particular Slingbox can do. As we develop Slingbox Software and SlingPlayer with new features for these new standards and platforms, these older Slingboxes may not necessarily be able to work with them. This also limits the Slingboxes that we can continue to provide software and support for.
Because of these limitations, the Slingbox "Classic," the Slingbox TUNER, and the Slingbox AV have been designated as "legacy Slingboxes" and will no longer be supported. They may continue to work, but their Slingbox Software will not be updated, new SlingPlayer versions may not be compatible, and our Technical Support agents will no longer be able to provide support for them.
We will continue to provide support and software for the Slingbox SOLO, Slingbox PRO, and Slingbox PRO-HD.

This table shows the latest version of SlingPlayer software supported by each Slingbox. The legacy Slingboxes have not been comprehensively tested with these new versions of SlingPlayer software, but they should work fine. SlingPlayer for Windows (version 2.02) and SlingPlayer for Mac (version 1.0.7) were comprehensively tested with legacy Slingboxes.
