Setting up Remote Viewing

So how do we connect to our Slingbox when we're out and about and we want to watch our shows or catch today's news highlights? That's where a superficially scary term comes in - we need to configure the router using a technique called Port Forwarding (sometimes referred to as Port Mapping).

Most home networks these days can be configured automatically by our Slingbox Setup Wizard (called Slingbox Setup Assistant on the Mac) using a technology known as Universal Plug and Play, or UPnP. However, some routers need manual configuration and that's where our handy Slingbox Network Setup Assistant comes in.
